The other day, I was speaking to some very nice Catholic woman from out of Seattle, and she had been happy to be down in the desert resort town near where I live staying warm and dry. Since it was Good Friday, and she’d just come from the church we spoke a little bit about what Good Friday intended, and its spiritual significance. No, it was not new information for me although I’m not a spiritual type, however I did challenge her about the need to alter the name of Great Friday. Alright so let us talk about this for moment shall we?See more wishes of good friday 2018 on our website.
That doesn’t make any sense at all to me personally, since I reside at a future period, Jesus supposedly lived in a previous period, and that I did not ask him to do this for me anyhow. But that’s the way the narrative goes, but I’d submit to you that it was not a very good day for Jesus, because they did push spikes through his hands as the story goes, and shattered his ankles and what are you, which has to’ve been a very painful experience, not particularly the best way to die if you understand what I mean?
Well, if this is a gift to humanity, expiring on the cross for our sins, then I think that it needs to be called “Gift Friday” or perhaps, “Great gift Friday,” instead of simply Good Friday? Well, it is a holiday, it is great to have a day away, so I’m not complaining even though I am not religious, or that the entire thing seems rather hokey to mepersonally, I am just pleased to get the day off, and relax, it gives me some time to reflect and think about things like this I guess?
Let’s talk about the “Branding of a Holiday” shall we?
Everyone wants a holiday, and a reason to celebrate, and calling something Great Friday puts everybody in a fantastic mood, and because it is great, it must be a fantastic holiday. If the Christians managed to rebrand Good Friday as good Gift Friday, then maybe we could turn it into a commercial vacation just as we have Christmas. And that would be even better, and rather great for local retailers.
No, I’m not attempting to make fun of the holiday, what I am attempting to do here would be to provoke a reaction, spark your emotion one way or another, and enable you to think. And because I only did that, I’ll finish this article now – please consider this.
